I sometimes feel sorry for January. It’s dark, everybody’s skint and knackered after the festive period and it’s usually bloomin’ cold! I sometimes feel sorry for January. It’s dark, everybody’s skint and knackered after the festive period and it’s usually bloomin’ cold! Basically, misery abounds and we could all do with a bit of cheering up. With that being the case, Stupid Human couldn’t have timed the release of his new EP any better, as he gifts us three wonderful tracks that will banish those blues in a blaze of disco-fuelled glory.

‘Gang of Wolves’ sets the tone perfectly. A wonderfully funky bass line entwines itself with an uncomplicated but insistent drum pattern, providing the perfect platform from which to launch the stunning vocal. Add in the glimmers of synth and guitar that drift sublimely through the track and you have yourself a felicitous slice of musical joy that’s hard to resist.

The sublime vocal of ‘In Slo Moshun’ tells us that “I want this night to last,” and we’re not at all surprised when it sounds this damn good! This is disco at its most seductive. An assured yet simmering groove is chopped and looped to  erfection; all lustful synths, throbbing bass and suggestive guitars. This track will leave you feeling hot and sweaty whether you’re on the dancefloor or not!

Rounding off the EP is ‘Not Tonight’, a track that is guaranteed to have your rump-a-rolling from it’s deceptively straightforward start onwards. The simple synth loop is worked through the filter whilst cavorting with a bass, strings and piano that all strut their stuff into the main body of the track, where they are brought together in an explosion of raw, lavish, disco magnificence. Superb!
