Of course, we all expected a remix album to follow the release of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories. But what’s the point now? Barely has Columbia Records had enough time to count their filthy amounts of cash, when American-Chillean wunderkind NICOLAS JAAR casts his spell over the entire album, with a little help from the relatively unknown, DAVE HARRINGTON.

Together, they masquerade as DARKSIDE. Happy bloody Friday.

Typically of Jaar, Daftside is an abstract re-imagining. The original material is subject to obliteration, but its reconstruction is predictably thoughtful, as he mobilises undulating grooves and sparse soundscapes around the ear-pleasing licks, ingrained into the public brain for the last month.
