House music. Two words that when put together mean so much to many people. It has changed lives and built bridges all over the world. For some, it is a way of life. For others it is something they they cannot quite comprehend. Look at it as you wish. The fact remains that house music is huge. Plenty of people try and put their mark on the scene and so many fail. The new EP, Deep Empathy by MIKE SHARON on No More Noise encapsulates all of the above and more. No More Noise Records look like they are here to stay.

Launching straight into a steady rhythm, ‘Deep Experience‘ is underpinned by an uplifting bass line, around which the gentle, insistent organ refrain wraps itself, tugging at your shoulders. The shuffling vocal dances around the melody, before giving way to a organ solo, resplendent in its jazzy reminisces, that peaks through the rest of the tune like the brightest of sunrises, sweeping all before it in the most delightful of glows. A delicate conclusion is reached with the tuneful chiming of a bell, softly ringing out like a solitary bird at evensong.

In Your Mind‘ opens with a vocal telling us to “Feel it in your mind; feel it in your soul,” which is more a statement of intent than a suggestion. This drifts delightfully over the top of a solid, driving bass line, whose groove will usher all before it to the dance floor. The taught, tight rhythm at the core of the track allows for a solo that starts off almost wistful, with hints of melancholy, before quickly giving way to one that soars ever upwards, twisting and turning like a bird playing on the whimsy of the breeze.

Opening with a skittering rhythm, ‘The Purple Line‘ is soon joined by a simple organ refrain that tugs away at your intrigue, gently nudging your hips into action, whether you want to or not. The track drifts like a cloud across a gloriously perfect azure sky, soon partnered by a whispered vocal, floating into your conscience like a long-forgotten memory. This eventually gives way to the soulful cry of, ‘Come on,’ a cry that implores you to strut your stuff across the dance floor. And with this track, that’s an urge you’ll find hard to resist.

No More Noise have delivered a slice of delightful deepness just at the right time, which comes as no surprise really. As thoughts turn to doing the soft shoe shuffle in sun soaked surroundings, The Deep Empathy EP arrives, promising to entice you out of the darkness and back into the blissful light.
