Issy’s Groove starts 2014 in the same way they ended 2013; with a cracking new release that is deserving of your immediate attention in the form of Mark Walters’ ‘You Deal’ EP.

On the A side you’ll find Jason Bye’s remix of the title track, ‘You Deal’. Here, the percussive elements are stripped back, the vocal becomes a rolling bubbling melody and the synths are toughened up with a rougher, analogue crispness about them that will have the heads charging towards the dancefloor.

The original ‘You Deal’ launches straight into a thumping kick accompanied by percussive elements that snap, crackle and pop in a way Mr. Kellog could only dream of. A buoyant synth line bounces along over an almost ethereal, elongated organ note that looms large behind all that stand in front of it like a ghost at the feast. This is a huge slab of deep house that should not be missed.

The EP closes with a slice of analogue driven garage in the form of ‘You Been’. A pounding, crunchy kick underpins the track throughout, whilst an enjoyably funky bass line keeps things ticking along nicely. Snippets of chopped vocal dart in and around the track, whilst the simple, almost nonchalant synth line is guaranteed to get booties wiggling left, right and centre.
