Ten years ago, Glasgow DJ and production duo Silicone Soul set up an independent label, with the idea of not only exploring the deeper side of things, but also unearthing fresh and exciting talent along the way. Since 2003, Darkroom Dubs has done just that. And their new compilation, ‘A Ten Day Weekend’, shows they’ve no sign of stopping.

This 10th anniversary compilation features brand new tracks from some of the label’s strongest supporters and main acts, including a fresh slice from Silicone Soul themselves. And within this you’ll find enough wonders to keep even the most serious of heads nodding into the small hours.

Our personal highlights include the maleficent, bubbling bass of Uner’s ‘Get 2gether’, the joyous marriage of soulful melodies and acid-influenced bass lines that is Antonio Oliveri’s ‘Lies’ and the raw, melancholic synth work found in Of Norway’s ‘Hindsight’. Special mentions must also go to the dark, haunting house of Silicone Soul’s ‘Spanish Castle, the rough and tough tech-house that is Jario Catelo’s ‘Timeless’ and Ev Freska’s obfuscous basement boogie, ‘Solitude Pt. 1′.

That said, from start to finish, ‘A Ten Day Weekend’ is a joy to listen to. Indeed, seeing as it’s their birthday, Darkroom Dubs really are spoiling us with such a wonderful release. Here’s to the next ten years!
